Dried Blood Spot
A dried blood spot (DBS) is the finger-prick collection format many at-home kits use: drops of blood on a treated card, dried and mailed in. Labs validate specific tests to run from DBS samples. It is convenient and stable in transit, but not every marker can be measured this way — which is one reason some services route certain panels to an in-person blood draw instead.
