FAQ · Food Sensitivity

Is a food sensitivity test the same as an allergy test?

No, and the distinction is the single most important fact in this category. True food allergies involve IgE antibodies and are evaluated under medical supervision — at-home kits do not diagnose them. Most home “sensitivity” panels measure IgG antibodies, a marker whose meaning is scientifically debated; allergy organizations caution that IgG reactivity often reflects ordinary exposure to a food rather than a problem. We compare these kits on what they measure and cost, and we say plainly what they are not. Suspected allergy is a see-an-allergist situation.
